Follow your Dreams

Today’s card uses the outdoorsy Lighting the Way stamp set. Did you ever catch lightning bugs? I remember as a kid thinking they were so magical! Little fairies or something. Then seeing them in the morning they were just black bugs, releasing them from the jar and letting them go about their business. I was sad that I had captured them and ruined the magic. So much of life is about perception.

The envelope features some of the lightning bug stamps while the card is created mostly with the dies. I fell in love with the lantern die cut! To make the yellow glow, a second lantern image was cut using So Saffron paper, then after the black lantern was adhered, dots of liquid glue were dropped into the four spaces and the yellow pieces were then snuggled into place. The lightning bug is created from three different die cut pieces. The wings were cut from vellum. He is so darn cute!

The greeting label was created with the Essential Tag Punch but it was just a bit too big, so an 1/8″ was cut off of three sides. Then the edges were distressed and a sponge dauber was used to add a bit of Mint Macaron ink to the edges. They ended up with a hint of blue to them because I didn’t have a dedicated green dauber with me and ended up using one that was blue. The label and the lightning bug are both popped up with dimensionals.

For the inside of the card, some die cut lightning bugs were added around the greeting. Some greenery was stamped in Mint Macaron and a 1/4″ strip of the DSP from the front was added at the bottom.

This card can be used for a graduation or even retirement for an adventurous soul.

Speaking of adventurous, I just saw an alligator cruising past my deck, got up to see him better and he had vanished. I’m guessing that he is now laying on the bottom, just feet away from my lawn! As I walk out on the lawn today, I will try to keep my perception of living in a safe world at the front of my consciousness! No use letting my anxiety prone, squirrel brain ruin my day.
