Watercolored Detailed Dogwood

Today’s card also comes with an instructional video, as promised. This card uses two different Watercoloring Techniques. The first uses a clear block to create a background and the second uses Stampin’ Write Markers to ink the image directly on the stamp.

Unlike yesterday’s card, I’ve used Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper on this one. Clear Block Size I was used for the background, with Bubble Bath ink.

Both a green marker and a brown were used on the stems and leaves. First they were all colored green and then the brown was added over the green, just on the thick stems. The flowers were colored with two different pinks. First the lighter color over the entire bloom and then a dark color in the center. The whole thing was spritzed until wet but not running (just experiment with the amount of water, depending on the look you want).

Let the piece dry completely before stamping the dragonfly and greeting. The greeting is from the Perennial Postage stamp set. This set can be purchased as a bundle with dies in the shape of postage stamps. As you can see on the card above, I rushed it a bit for the greeting and it got a little fuzzy. The difference between the two images shows you a bit how the amount of water used changes the look, also different colored markers were used. The one above had more water spritzed onto it and the ink spread more.

I hope that you enjoyed these techniques and have fun playing with them.

The Detailed Dogwood stamp set can be earned for FREE during SALE-A-BRATION, with a $100 purchase. It’s one of several items in the SAB event. There are many items at the $50 level as well.
