Gate Fold Fun

I started down this path with a version of a Gate Fold that used a standard 8 1/2″ x 11″ piece of cardstock cut in half to create two card bases.

I wanted to make a version that was 5 1/2″ tall so I started with a 12″ x 12″ piece of cardstock to create the base.

Sometimes I like fussy cutting really close around a greeting so that it stands out while at the same time show more of the color under it. I also love the Lily of the Valley stamp from an upcoming suite called Valley in Bloom (#167951).

I’ve really done a mix and match garden with this card. Spring time Lily of the Valley, Summer Lavender, and Fall Sunflowers, lol.

Paper Dimensions for Smaller Card:

  • Base 11″ x 4 1/4″ score at 2″, 3 3/4″, 7 1/4″ & 9″
  • Card stock for embossing 2 pieces 1 7/8″ x 1/8″
  • Designer paper 2 pieces 1 5/8″ x 4 1/8″
  • Center paper white or vanilla 3 3/8″ x 4 1/8″

The base is 12″ x 5 1/2″ scored at 2″, 4″, 8″ & 10″. I really liked the embossed front panels with the White Ink dragged over the surface. The Floral Spray Embossing Folder is part of the Valley in Bloom Suite.

To get just the word ‘Celebrate’ separate from the rest of the stamp, I VERY carefully inked just the one word. A piece of tape might have been easier but I enjoyed the challenge and it only took me two scraps of paper to get it right.

I used a variety of colors and papers with various greetings and die sets. There is a circle in the Stylish Shapes Die set that layers well under this leafy circle from the Springtime Scenes Dies.

I really like the Sweet Words & Labels Dies which I used for the white label on the inside of the card. It’s part of the Silly Old Bear Suite (#167634) coming out in the May OnLine Exclusives. Due to some copy right thing, it is only available in the USA. There are two bundles, an embossing folder and some really cut designer paper. If you love Winnie the Pooh, be sure to check this out.

Paper Dimensions for Large Card:

  • Base 12″ x 5 1/2″ scored at 2″, 4″, 8″, & 10″
  • Card stock to emboss 2 pieces 1 3/4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Designer Paper 2 pieces 1 3/4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Designer Paper 3 3/4″ x 5 1/4″
  • White card stock for labels

This final card was created during my Gate Fold Video Tutorial. I could just keep making these cards with different colors, papers, and stamp sets. They are so much fun to make and the scoring is so easy to remember!
