Safari Smiles Lions

Today I have a few cards created using the Safari Smiles stamp set. I’ve been using the Naturals Colored Stampin’ Blends for coloring the lions and have been having some fun playing with the colors.

For this card I used some of the lighter browns. I didn’t keep track of which colors I used. The Base is Calypso Coral with a piece of the Splash of Sparkles Designer Paper on the back.

The narrow strip at the edge is a piece of the new Crisp Cantalope embossed with the awesome Swirls of Magic Embossing Folder. Watch for this one to come out in July. The large stars have been brushed with the Barely Blush Shimmer Brush.

This card has a jungle themed background, with Mossy Meadow cardstock and some Nature’s Walk DSP.

I’ve done these guys in a bit darker colors.

The male’s body is done in Stampin’ Blends numbers 300 & 400 while his mane is done with the 500 & 600 markers and his nose is the 200 marker.

The female is done with the 300 & 500 markers and her nose is also done with the 200 marker.

For the cub markers 600 & 700 were used.

The background has also been colored with Stampin’ Blend Markers, Light Mossy Meadow for the bottom and Light Cloud Cover for the top.

The leaves are from the Springtime Scenes stamp set. They are stamped with Mossy Meadow ink and a Blender Pen was immediately used to pull the color from the lines into the center of the image.

The female and cub are colored using the same markers as the above card but the male was done with the 200, 300, & 400 markers.

This photo of the inside for the card shows how the Fun Fold is laid out. The bottom base is 6″ x 5 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″. The top base is 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ scored at 2 3/4″. Both of the white layers are 2 1/2″ x 4″.

The cool Tree Ring Embossing Folder used on this card is another item that will be coming out in July.

Here is my first try at coloring in the lions. I used Crushed Curry instead of Black ink to stamp the image. I didn’t keep track of which colors I used for this image but I’m guessing it was more in the 600 – 900 range of markers.

I took a few minutes to make a fun colored whimsical card with the lions using Balmy Blue, Bubble Bath and some Highland Heather accents. The background is colored with the Bronze and Ivory Stampin’ Blend Markers. I pulled out a greeting from the new Wild Bunch stamp set which is the June Product of the Month. Only $5 for this super cute stamp set with a $75 order.

I hope that you have as much fun with the Safari Smiles stamp set as I have. I ordered it incorrectly though and didn’t get the dies, groan…be sure to order the bundle!
