Welcome back to 2010 and the fun Animal Stories stamp set. This stamp set worked as well today as it did 16 years ago! That’s one of the awesome things about Stampin’ Up! red rubber stamps. Store them out of direct sunlight at room temperatures and they last darn near forever.

For this baby card, I wanted to use all four animals in the set so I cut white paper to just fit the animals. I did use a stamp positioner. These solid filled stamps sometimes need two applications of ink to get a nice dark image. The images are matted with Fruit Salad Designer Series Papers and the large matte layer on the background is also a designer from that paper pack. I don’t think that the DSP goes back quite a far as the stamp set but it is also a blast from the past, retired paper.
The tiny hello baby greeting comes from my still favorite Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set. I don’t have a date on this set but I’m pretty sure it’s about the same age as the Animal Stories set.
The card is topped off with a twine bow and some sequins from my stash.
If you have this fun set in your stamp library and want to recreate this card, here are the measurements:
- Mango Melody Base 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ Scored at 4 1/4″
- Large DSP for background 4″ x 5 1/4″
- White for giraffe 1 3/4″ x 3″
- DSP Matte for giraffe 1 7/8″ x 3 1/8″
- White for owl 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″
- DSP Matte for owl 1 5/8″ x 1 5/8″
- White for elephant 1 3/4″ x 1 3/4″
- DSP Matte for elephant 1 7/8″ x 1 7/8″
- White for whale 1 5/8″ x 1 5/8″
- DSP Matte for whale 1 3/4″ x 1 3/4″
- White for greeting 1 1/2″ x 1/2″
- DSP Matte for greeting 1 3/4″ x 3/4″
Of course this layout could work well for other smaller images. Just adjust the paper sizes to match the image and then fit them onto the card front.
Hope you enjoyed this look into the past. Have a great weekend.
