Valentine Treat Packaging

Hi,

Welcome to The Roost! The STARS are having a Valentine Treat Inspiration Hop today. There’s a lot of awesome ladies in this group, with lots of creative ideas. Hopefully, there are a few who have some time today to share those great ideas. My first love is making cards, followed by working on my scrapbooks. I have to admit, I don’t work on packaging very often, I hope you enjoy the simple ideas that I came up with.

Valentine Treats

So I started out with a Mini Heart Box, but of course, I didn’t have time to find some fun candy to put inside of it. I used the Heart Punches from the Heartfelt Bundle to cut out the hearts for the top and bottom of the box.

Mini Heart Valentine Treat Box

To recreate my Mini Heart Treat Box, punch out 2 scalloped hearts from real red cardstock. Punch out 1 real red and 1 From My Heart DSP with the smooth heart punch. Adhere them to form 2 heart layers, one for the top, one for the bottom.

Mini Heart Valentine Treat Box Sides

For the sides, you will need 2 real red strips 3/4″ x 6 1/2″. Score at 1/4″ on the long side, and snip little v’s out from the edge to the score line about every 1/4″. This will allow strip to follow the heart’s curves. Cut little triangles of Tear n Tape and place onto the tabs. Start at the center of the strip at the tip of the heart and adhere around the heart. Cut off any excess.

Mini Heart Box Bottom and Top, Open

Be sure to make the sides of the bottom box smaller than the top box so that they will fit together. A piece of felt or velvet cut to fit inside the hearts, would make the inside more elegant.

Hershey Bar with Almonds Valentine Wrapper

A piece of Flirty Flamingo cardstock cut to 4 1/4″ x 5″ fit snugly wrapped around the bar. I thought that this greeting from the Heartfelt stamp set was perfect for the candy bar. The greeting is stamped in real red and the dotted hearts in flirty flamingo. To void the area where the greeting is stamped, cover the greeting with a strip of a post it note before stamping the hearts. The tiny red heart was fussy cut from a scrap of the DSP. The ribbon was a retired baker’s twine from my stache.

Gift Tag

To finish out my Treat Packaging I though I would make a little 3″ x 3″ gift tag. The base is a 6″ x 3″ piece of thick whisper white scored at 3″. The pretty red doily is adhered flat and the From My Heart DSP heart is punched out with the scallop heart punch, stamped with Flirty Flamingo ink and popped up with dimensionals. Again, I have added some retired bakers twine.
