Hot Dog! It’s Your Birthday

Time for another STARS Layout Challenge! I LOVE layout challenges! For this challenge I pulled out the Hot Dog stamp set, and inked it up for the first time. I’m a beagle mom, but dachshunds are pretty darn cute too.

Hot Dog

Isn’t this little Dachshund just so debonair? I can almost ‘see’ his tail wagging. The Playful Pets Designer Series Paper was a perfect match up for this little guy.

To make the triangles for the corners, start with two 2″ squares and cut them diagonally. To make sure that the squares are cut so that pattern is going the correct direction watch my video tutorial. One needs to be cut from the left top to bottom right and the other from the right top to bottom left. It makes more sense when you see it on the video, lol.

The center piece of Basic White is a 3 1/2″ square. After doing all the stamping and coloring, it is adhered to the card base centering it between the DSP triangles. After it is adhered, the tips that are overhanging are trimmed off from the back side.

Hot Dog Inside View

For the inside of the card I cut a strip of the paws and hearts from the Playful Pets DSP and added to the edge.

This layout was so FUN! You just have to try it. Watch my Video Tutorial to see how simple this layout is to use. Just choose a stamp set with an image that will fit on the 3 1/2″ square and some matching Designer Paper for the triangles on the edges.

P. S. Looking for a simpler version of this card? Try this one.

If you are just starting out and don’t have a ton of supplies, start with a simpler version of this card, like the one above. A Basic White card base, Black ink, the Hot Dog stamp set and a pack of the Playful Pets Designer Series Paper is all that you need for this card.
