It’s a rainy day in the camper here in Oxford, Iowa. Tomorrow we finally head home to Minnesota! I’m glad we aren’t staying in a tent like the one on my Whimsical Camping Goat card!

The goal for a challenge that I’m working on is to create a card with an unexpected combination. So I decided to to take my goat from the Way to Goat stamp set camping with the Campology stamp set. I did think about hand lettering the word look with eyes in the two o’s but my handwriting just isn’t great so I settled with the Explore greeting from the Campology set.

The card starts with a piece of Very Vanilla card stock cut to 3″ x 4 3/4″. The goat is stamped first to the right side. Next, the tent is stamped. To stamp the trees behind the tent, simply make a sticky note mask by stamping the tent on the sticky note and fussy cutting it out. Place it over the image that you want to be in the front and then stamp over it. I actually had masks cut from previous projects for the goat and the tent. Tip: after using a mask put it back in the stamp case and it’s ready to go the next time you need it! I used the long hair on the goat’s thigh to line up where I wanted the trees and tent to be placed.

After I had all of the stamping done, I decided that I wanted to color in the entire background. I used the Blending Brushes to add the ink. Shaded Spruce for the trees, Pear Pizzazz for the grass and Balmy Blue for the sky. I did use a Q-Tip to finish up some of the edges. I decided to leave the goat white, but colored his horns and hooves with Light Gray Granite and the flower with Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends. The tent is colored with an Ivory Stampin’ Blend and I thought the color was perfect.

The binoculars are stamped with Tuxedo Black ink onto a piece of Sahara Sand card stock and fussy cut. I trimmed off the strap and instead added a piece of Mossy Meadow Braided Trim which I unbraided using my Take Your Pick Tool. I would have used a piece of Linen Thread but couldn’t find it, lol. The Explore greeting is stamped on a piece of Granny Apple and popped up with dimensionals because when I stamped it directly onto the Very Vanilla piece I got it crooked. Shhhh… don’t tell anyone, right? The binoculars are also popped up with dimensionals.
The Shaded Spruce matte layer is 3 1/4″ x 5″ and is layered onto another matte that is from the Well Suited Designer Paper Pack. The Well Suited layer is 4″ x 5 1/4″ and the card base is a standard 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ Night of Navy, scored at 4 1/4″. There is also a Basic White inside liner that is cut to 3 3/4″ x 5″ but I haven’t added anything to the inside yet, so no photo of a humorous inside.
I hope that you enjoyed my Whimsical Camping Goat. I think it would make a nice Graduation Card or perhaps a card to send to a child at camp.
