Today I’m sharing the card that I’m entering in the DOswts#360 Challenge. It’s a very simple card that is easy to recreate in any color with a sentiment that fits the space.
The Well Suited Designer Paper strips are cut to 3/4″ wide. I used some scraps that I had saved. The longer ones are 2 3/4″ long and the shorter ones are 1 3/4″ long. They are from two different designs and I’ve used both sides of the paper. The Misty Moonlight matting layer is 4″ x 5 1/4″ and the Basic White layer is 3 3/4″ x 5″.
When I saw this layout, I immediately thought of a masculine card. I’m looking forward to seeing what the other STAR’s came up with for this layout. I did try to create a card without matting, but didn’t think it looked quite right. Here is my first attempt at this layout.
The white layer was a bit larger on this card, and the strips were a bit longer with less space between them. I just felt like there was too much white space and it seemed a bit lopsided. So I went back to the drawing board and created the second card. Just a few minor changes and I was much happier with the card.
The vey masculine greeting on this card comes from the Celebration of Tags stamp set. In a rare occurrence, I didn’t purchase the matching die set for these stamps. I also did something very not like me and cut the stamps apart, horrors! I never cut stamps apart and I just did. Sometimes creativity is mess! This stamp was connected to two other images and all three would have been cut out with one die, but that made it more difficult to use one greeting stamped directly on the card.
I had a couple of extra strips of Misty Moonlight paper laying by my trimmer so I put them on the inside of the card. I didn’t stamp a greeting, because I couldn’t decide if I would use this for a birthday or for a graduation.
