Baby Wipe Technique

A week or two ago, (I can never keep track of time) I participated in a challenge using the Baby Wipe Technique. I’m not sure if I had ever actually made a card using the technique before, but I had heard of it. After the little taste of the technique, I decided to play around with it and make a few more cards and a Baby Wipe Technique Video.

I chose the Sweet Strawberry stamp set because I wanted to give the strawberries a realistic look, you know like the ones you buy in the store with the white tops, lol. For the Baby Wipe Technique, first fold a baby wipe into quarters. Next push the stamp into the baby wipe to see where to place the ink drops from the ink refill bottles. For these strawberries, I started with Cherry Cobbler at the bottom, Real Red was next and then Pale Papaya for the top. I did also use the Baby Wipe with just a drop of green ink, to ink up the color on the leaves. The little flowers were inked with the top of the Baby Wipe ink, mostly using just the Pale Papaya. I outlined the flowers with Cinnamon Cider.

Since I had the Baby Wipe all inked up, I made another card using the ink. It seemed a shame to only make one. Both cards feature double bows. The Linen thread was very hard to make into a double bow, but I did it!

And then…I got to thinking which other solid stamps do I have that would work well with this technique. I tried the Color & Contour set using Pale Papaya, Bumblebee and Crushed Curry inks. I love the splatter stamp from the Color & Contour set, so much easier than tapping a brush. Be sure to watch the video to see what I used to color in the leaves. For this card, I went with a simple knot instead of a bow.

The final card that I want to share with you today is one from my Creative Cards Class. The Baby Wipe Technique is a great way to make a rainbow colored image. The ink refills for this card were Pacific Point, Bermuda Bay, Mossy Meadow, Calypso Coral and Real Red. I wouldn’t use this many colors on a smaller stamp but because this one is so large it worked well.

The Sweet Strawberry card with a green base has very similar supplies, here is the list for this one.

I hope that I didn’t bore you with this huge long post! It ended up becoming much longer than I expected. I promise that in the future I won’t try to share everything with you all in one post!

I hope that you have a wonderful day. Now that restrictions are over, maybe you can even give someone a hug!
