Thoughts from the Lake

Before I share the card that I’ve prepared for today, I wanted to share the view here at the picnic table where I’m sitting. Isn’t it marvelous that we can be connected to the internet sitting outside by a lake! I missed the sunrise because I was laying in bed listening to the birds singing but it’s still a gorgeous morning. On my way from the camper to the lake I saw the tiniest little chipmunk and then a squirrel with the longest tail I’ve ever seen. The only fly in the ointment is literally the flies! I had to go put on a pair of socks to give my ankles a little protection.

Do any of you get squeamish about mice? I’m not normally grossed out about mice in traps but when I went into the camper to go to bed last night it smelled horrible and I found a mouse in the trap we had set. I had been so busy working on a swap card in the cabin that I hadn’t even been in the camper since we had arrived. Usually I would dispose of a mouse myself but I just couldn’t. So I called my knight in shinning armor to come and rescue me, hehehe. He did give me the old eye roll but disposed of the mouse and cleaned up the mess.

This card was created during a Mystery Challenge with the STARS group. I’ll have to admit the supply list had me stumped as to what the card was supposed to look like . I chose the Friends Are Like Sea Shells stamp set and some soft muted colors.

Paper Dimensions

  • Soft Sea Foam Base 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ Scored at 4 1/4″
  • Pool Party 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Soft Sea Foam 5″ x 3 3/4″
  • Pool Party Tag
  • Soft Succulent Tag
  • Soft Sea Foam Circle

I don’t have my ruler out here at the picnic table so I’m not able to give you the measurements of the tags and circle but they are cut with the Tailor Made Tags and Layering Circles Dies.

The greeting is stamped with Tuxedo Black ink and all of the shells are stamped with Soft Sea Foam ink. I’ve also entered this card in The Card Concept Challenge 178.

The style of this card is a cross between clean and layered and vintage. The tone on tone background stamping, ribbons and sea glass give the card a more vintage feel while the undistressed edges and multiple layers leave it feeling clean and layered.

  1. I just love the background you created, Robyn, and the tags are fabulous. Thanks for playing along at the Card Concept! PS. I live in the country, where mice are a constant problem. Can’t stand the whole trap thing!
