Santa Express

I’m so excited about all of the awesome Christmas stamps in the new July to December Mini Catalog that I’m almost (really, only almost) in full Holiday mode. I have to start early or I’d never get all of my Christmas cards made (and that, really, is the truth!)

This card was so much fun to make! I started by heat embossing the greeting with Black Embossing Powder onto an 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ Sweet Sorbet card base. While I had the heat gun out, I embossed the train, train car, and tree with Gold Embossing powder.

Next, I colored in the images with Stampin’ Blend Markers, then cut them out with the matching Santa’s Train Dies. I timed myself and it took 10 minutes to do the coloring for one card. Watch my Santa’s Express Video Tutorial to see the card being created.

The fun background is from the Santa Express Designer Paper. The 12″ x 12″ sheet has 4 rows of these fun scenic strips that are 3″ tall. This allowed me to get 8 cards from each sheet of DSP (Designer Series Paper).

I really like all the extra little images in both the stamp set and the die set. There are packages, a sign, a fun penguin, bows smoke puffs, a wreath, train tracks, and the tree and candy canes that I used here.

I just had to get this cute little excited penguin on the card somewhere, so I added him on the inside. The little sparkles even have Wink of Stella added to them but of course it doesn’t show in the photo.
