Aspen Tree Dies

Today’s blog is a bit late being posted because I spent the day at the McLeod County Fair with my friend Sandy. I meant to have it done before I left this morning but, I was moving too slow. We had fun at the fair and managed to time it between the morning rain and the evening rain. We waited to see the Budweiser Clydesdale Show but it ended up being cancelled because of the incoming storm.

This card is my first time playing with the Aspen Tree Dies which I got FREE with my last order. They are one of the additional items that got added for SALE-a-bration.

The Aspen Trees are cut from one of the Gingham Cottage Designer Series Paper designs. The jury is still out on wether or not I like the gingham paper for the Aspen Tree die cut. For the paper behind the Aspen Tree, I started with a piece of Crumb Cake and used Blending Brushes to add color. I used Early Espresso, Soft Suede, So Saffron, Crushed Curry, and Pumpkin Pie. I was a bit disappointed that the colors didn’t really show thru like I envisionsed.

The Heron and greeting are from the Heron Habitat Bundle. To make the gray shadow layer for the label, the die cut thank you label was adhered to a piece of Basic Gray and then fussy cut to leave a narrow edge. The Heron is popped up with dimensionals but the the greeting is left flat.

I’m really looking forward to playing more with this die set! I may even have to order the coordinating stamp set, which I didn’t think I had to have.
