First of all I have to give a big thank you to Sandy Reid for loaning me the Best Day stamp set to make a birthday card for granddaughter Lilly who is turning two! I’m packing up her present to get in the mail tomorrow so that it has 10 days to reach her. I love being somewhere warm for the winter season but my heart is growing cold from missing my family.
Lilly is such a sweet, smiley girl and my only granddaughter so I decided to start with a pretty Polished Pink card base and die cut the front edge with one of the Elegant Borders Dies. It did take me two tries to get the die facing the right direction so that it cut off the just the edge of the paper. If you look closely at the die you can see the sharp, cutting edge.
Next, I cut out two rectangles with the Deckled Rectangle Dies and stamped the cat on one and the birthday cake on the other. They are colored with Stampin’ Write Markers. the cat is done in Light and Dark Pumpkin Pie. Lilly’s family has two cats, one is gray and the other orange.
I love both of these images and either one could be used for the focal point. The cake image could even be used to create a more adult focused formal card by changing the colors.
The Extraordinary Granddaughter greeting is from the A Grand Kid stamp set and is inked with Polished Pink ink. The Polished Pink ribbon is tied around the Flirty Flamingo matte layer and tied in a knot with a long tail.
Do you think I should add a few sparkly gems before I sign the card and put in the box with the gift?
